The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of the US legal system, and proven experience in US civil and personal injury litigation, including medical record summarization, ideally having worked directly with personal injury firms on both pre-litigated and litigated matters.

If you’ve spent years performing the manual work necessary to manage US personal injury and civil litigation - like reviewing, tagging and naming documents into digital systems; creating medical summaries and timelines; and drafting basic documents - and you’re looking to get into AI, and to apply your domain knowledge to build bleeding edge products that change the way that thousands of attorneys practice law across the United States, then this job is for you!

The role will use a combination of civil litigation document expertise and agile project skills (user experience focus) to help expand and strengthen the Foundation AI product and AI models.

Job Summary:

The Civil Litigation Document Specialist is a key member of the product team, playing a crucial role in applying subject matter expertise to bridge the gap between law firm users (civil litigation file clerks, legal assistants and paralegals) and Foundation AI’s product and data science teams. This individual will leverage their civil litigation document background to provide insights into the different types of documents found in personal injury and civil litigation, and work with the teams to ensure that Foundation AI’s product and AI models execute flawlessly in the real world.

  • United States Civil Litigation Document Expertise:

  • Utilize legal support/paralegal knowledge to identify and tag civil litigation documents needed to support data science and product initiatives with specific focus on pre-litigation and litigated personal injury claims.

Agile Project Execution:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers/data scientists, designers, and business analysts in the US and India.

  • Assist in preparing data for model training, testing, and validation, including internal experiments and assessment of real-world performance in US civil litigation practice across multiple US states.

  • Communicate requirements, updates, and changes effectively to the data science team, product team and other stakeholders.

  • Document performance and progress through JIRA project management software, excel, and excellent spoken and written email communication.

  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in US civil litigation, with experience providing legal support and paralegal services for US personal injury litigation firms preferred.

  • Prior experience with medical record review in personal injury/civil litigation matters is a plus.

  • Interest in data science, LLMs, and prompt-engineering highly preferred.

  • Desire to gain a strong understanding of agile methodology and processes.
